This recipe is very special to me, not only because it connects me to my Abuelito. There are so many beautiful memories wrapped in this recipe. We even gave jars away at our wedding, and all these years later, our friends still ask for re-up when they visit. They will probably be shocked at how simple this is, but I think that's what makes it so good.
Put down that store-bought taco seasoning and make your own. This simple recipe from my grandfather is truly one of the best. It comes together quickly and will last for six months.
2 teaspoon black pepper
2 teaspoons cumin
2 teaspoons salt
2 teaspoons garlic granules or powder
3 tablespoons chili powder
1 tablespoon cornstarch or arrowroot powder
Combine all ingredients in a small bowl and mix until thoroughly combined. This recipe will season two pounds of protein or vegetables. You can store any unused taco seasoning in an airtight container; it will keep for up to six months.
